What is Density %?
It’s the percentage of times a word or phrase appears compared to all possible items of the same size.
- 1-word = (word count ÷ total words) × 100
- 2-word = (pair count ÷ total 2-word pairs) × 100
- 3-word = (trigram count ÷ total 3-word windows) × 100
- 4-word = (4-gram count ÷ total 4-word windows) × 100
- 5-word = (5-gram count ÷ total 5-word windows) × 100
Examples:
- 1,000 words, “solar” appears 20 ⇒ 2.0% (1-word).
- 2-word pairs ≈ 999; “solar panels” appears 8 ⇒ 0.80%.
- 3-word windows ≈ 998; “best solar panels” appears 4 ⇒ 0.40%.
How to read this
- Keyword density is a guide, not a rule. Aim for clarity & usefulness.
- Use headings (H2/H3), bullet points, and synonyms to improve readability.
- It’s fine if a main term appears more often—just keep it natural.
- Avoid stuffing: repeating a term in every sentence hurts readability.
